Diamantina Palacios uses textiles as a way of being in the world; she defines herself as a Textile Designer. After a long experience in textile restoration and design, she decided to create her own brand, Diamantina Palacios. She creates only unique pieces, and each one tells a story.
Her creativity stems from careful observation of nature and its inhabitants, from visions during her travels, from ongoing research, and through the experimentation of various languages and techniques such as weaving, felting, resist printing, and embroidery.
Her textile creations for fashion and interior decor are made with natural fibers and dyes, essential weaves, and sometimes more complex structures. The materials include short-chain silk yarns, and local wools from sheep, as well as alpaca and cashmere – all sourced in Tuscany. She also uses plant-based fibers such as linen, cotton, and hemp. To create volume and make the pieces modular, she uses copper wire, which she also employs to craft a small collection of contemporary textile jewelry.
She has studied color since the beginning of her journey into textiles and now dyes with plants, prints, and manipulates color as a primary vehicle of emotion.
The pieces she designs and builds are handcrafted, with the intention of giving each one uniqueness, character, and irreverence. She believes in the value that is added and aims to raise awareness of the importance of respecting nature by celebrating its beauty. She tries to tell the story of what surrounds her: the environment, textures, shapes, and colors that translate into music, generating a sensory experience between her creations and the viewer that goes beyond the visual.
Her mission is: “To bring dreams out of the drawer and see my ideas worn by people.”
